+ Mixed Used Development Renderings
Set in Manhattan, KS, this proposed redevelopment was a team project I was a part of recently. The program was to design a mixed use building that included small retail, and a restaurant on the first floor, with residential luxury condos and amenities located on the second and third floors. Beyond the design development phase, my main role in the completion of the final presentation was to layout the presentation boards, touch up drawings in Adobe Illustrator, and complete a set of renderings in Autodesk VIZ. Each rendering was completed in roughly 1-2 days. The over all project was completed in 2 weeks.

+ Blas House Case Study Computer Renderings
This project was given to me during my “Computing in Architecture” course. The renderings were completed using a combination of Autodesk VIZ and Adobe Photoshop CS3. The assignment was to reproduce an interior and an exterior version of the house, setup lighting, place furniture and “props”, compile textures, and compose the scene to eventually be rendered.

+ Fisherman's Retreat
Process SketchUp Models
Final Model
The Fisherman's Retreat is set on a beach in Honduras, and is the proposed site where "Fisherman" would travel to spend days at a time fishing, and traveling through the native regions. The program was to provide them with a shelter that speaks to the vernacular traditions of the area. This design is situated on its site to give maximum access to eastern sunshine in the morning, as well as the cooling summer / trade winds which come from the East. All spaces utilize exterior circulation which is then protected from the harsh daytime sun under one main canopy which serves as a place where photovoltaics are mounted.

+ Bowman Competition, Konza Prairie Welcome Center
Set on the intersection of Interstate 70 and Highway 177 just south of Manhattan, KS, we were asked to design a research and welcome center to receive people traveling along I-70. We were required to incorporate a gas station, convenience store, and restaurant alongside our galleries, conference rooms, and event space to create a place that would give travelers a reason to pull off the road and "discover" the Konza Prairie. The plans and section were completed in Autodesk Revit, while the rendering was done in Autodesk VIZ. + Garden in California
My final project first semester in the program was to design a semi-public garden space on the coast of California utilizing a specific proportioning system. In this project I utilized the Ken Mat system. Each concrete platform follows the Ken Mat system to create garden and viewing spaces over a pool of water. The medium used in this composition is pencil on vellum.

+ Sustainable House
The goal of this project was to create (in a team of 3) a vacation house in New Orleans that would be entirely self sustaining and energy efficient. Our team created a parti that allowed the structure to be self shading, water collecting, and have access to maximum stack circulation. Above you can read more about our heating and cooling strategies. This project was part of a class-wide (120 students) competition that took place over the entire semester. Our team was one of twelve finalist teams chosen at the end of the project to present our proposal to the class. The majority of the project was completed in SketchUp, while the layout was done in Photoshop.

+ Computing Final
This project was a case study of sorts. This building does not actually exist, but the plans and design specifications were given to us at the start. The primary objective of this project was to take a written description (description included materials used, size of rooms, etc) of a condominium in the rockies, and create a rendering of said place. Above is the result of my stab at rendering such a place. This rendering was modeled in SketchUp, and textured/rendered in Autodesk VIZ.

+ Graphite Rendering
The project was to duplicate a black and white photograph from Steven Holl's St. Ignatius Chapel, in Seattle, Washington. The medium chosen for this hand rendering is graphite on 20"x30" white strathmore board. This project was a short 5 day project.

+ Pen and Graphite Sketches
Above are various sketches from my personal sketch book. They are a mix of pen and graphite sketches/renderings.
